Data Deletion Instructions

Last updated:

You can request account withdrawal while signed in, or contact the Ara privacy team if you cannot access your account or need a separate deletion review. These instructions are public; you do not need to sign in to read them.

This notice is available in English. Contact the privacy team if you need help understanding it in another language.

1. Request withdrawal in Ara

Sign in using the method linked to your Ara account. Open My account and select Delete account. Check your booking and payment history, enter the reason and the confirmation phrase displayed on the page, acknowledge the withdrawal notice and submit your request.

When withdrawal succeeds, your account is marked as withdrawn, your patient profile is deactivated and all Ara service sessions are revoked. This prevents normal account access; it does not automatically mean that all associated records have already been erased.

2. If you cannot sign in, or want records erased

Use the privacy email or telephone below to request deletion, including deletion of information associated with Facebook or another social sign-in method. A Meta/Facebook account is not required to read these instructions or contact Ara.

For email, use a subject such as ‘Ara personal data deletion request’. If possible, write from the email address associated with your Ara account. If your social account has no email, explain the sign-in provider and another way to identify your Ara account. The privacy team may ask for proportionate verification before acting on a request.

  • Include the account email or other account identifier you know, and the social sign-in provider you used, if applicable.
  • State whether you want account withdrawal, deletion of selected information, or deletion of all information that may be deleted.
  • Provide a reply address and mention any active booking, payment, refund or dispute relevant to the request.
  • Do not include passwords, one-time verification codes, access tokens, full card details, medical photographs or identity documents in the initial request.

3. What happens after a request

The request is reviewed to identify the account and the information concerned, verify that the requester is entitled to act, and check outstanding services or retention obligations. If you do not receive a reply, follow up using the same email thread or the telephone contact below.

Ask for confirmation of the outcome: which information was deleted or de-identified, whether the account was withdrawn, and which information, if any, must remain with the reason and applicable timing. An email request is a request for review, not an automatic erasure confirmation. No fixed completion time for every request is promised here.

4. Active bookings or refunds

Ara can reject an in-app withdrawal request while a booking is confirmed, checked in, in surgery or rescheduled, or while a refund request or refund is being processed. Contact the privacy team and the relevant service team to resolve the outstanding matter.

A blocked account withdrawal does not prevent you from asking for a separate privacy review or deletion of information that is no longer necessary. Explain the booking or refund issue in your request so the required service records and other information can be considered separately.

5. Scope of deletion and records that may remain

A request can cover account and profile information, social sign-in identifiers and profile data, consultation messages and uploaded material held by Ara. The scope depends on the records connected to your account and whether they are still needed for an outstanding service or retention obligation.

Transaction and refund records, dispute correspondence, security or audit records and backup copies may require separate handling or continued limited retention. Ask for the specific reason and timing for any exception. Withdrawal alone is not immediate permanent erasure, and we do not promise a universal 30-day deletion of every record.

Hospitals may need to retain their own medical records and payment or social-sign-in providers may hold records independently. An Ara request does not automatically erase those separate records; contact the organization concerned where appropriate.

6. Facebook and other social sign-in providers

You may remove Ara from Facebook's connected apps or the equivalent settings of another provider. Provider settings and menu labels can change. Removing the connection restricts that connection; it does not itself erase Ara's account, consultation or payment records.

To request deletion of information Ara received through Facebook or another provider, also use the Ara withdrawal page or contact process described above. Mention the provider so the linked identity can be located. You do not need to share the provider password or an access token.
